Vectorial maps for Garmin® GPS devices
During looking for free vectorial maps, I've found interesting website:

On this website click mouse on world map, to get list of maps which includes current place. After that you can press link 'show on map', to see territory cover by current map.
For uploading maps to GPS device you can use current freeware:

P.S.
you can run it in Linux using wine for generating file GMAPSUPP.IMG from several maps and then just copy this file to your devices by USB.
